Join us for a night of laughter with host Mike McBrine, featuring Paul Varghese and Hogan Allcorn.
Born and raised in Waco, Mike has traveled all over Texas doing comedy. Now, he brings that comedy home. Aside from being the world's most dangerous stay at home dad, Mike has been telling jokes on stage for over 14 years. In addition to producing regular (and irregular) comedy shows all over town, he is the founder of The Heart of Texas Comedy Festival. He along with his wife and two children happily reside in Woodway. Mike enjoys Dallas Cowboys football, pizza, Crystal Pepsi and being left alone.
Paul, who began doing stand-up in 2001, opened for Canadian-born comedian Russell Peters in a short theater-tour through Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and New York in 2005. That led to his headlining a 16-city Gurus of Comedy tour in the spring of 2006. In 2007 he was named "Best Stand-Up Comic in Dallas" by the Dallas Observer and won the 2009 "Funniest Comic in Texas" competition. Varghese was also featured on Showtime's "Russell Peter's Presents", Telemundo 2's "Loco Comedy Jam", Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham" and "Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution". On June 18, 2012, Varghese was given the opportunity to open for comedian Dave Chappelle at the Dallas House of Blues and the following night in Austin, TX at the Paramount Theatre. On May 31, 2014, Varghese opened for Joan Rivers at IP Casino Resort in Biloxi. This was followed by several more openings for Ms. Rivers in June, 2014.
Born and raised in Texas, Hogan Allcorn found his comedy calling while making homemade sketch videos with his peers throughout his school years. His videos for church and school projects even made the ministers and teachers laugh! After interning for Comedy Central Development and Talent in New York during his years at Baylor University, Hogan mustered the courage to try live stand-up comedy himself and hasn't looked back since. Approaching his three-year comedy anniversary, Hogan has performed in clubs like Hyenas Comedy Nightclubs (DFW) and Dallas Comedy House, theaters like the Waco Civic Theatre and the Neosho (MO) Civic Center, and of course dive bars and family restaurants all across the great state of Texas. Allcorn is the 2016 Heart of Texas Comedy winner and recently took part in the Dallas Comedy Festival. His comedy influences include Steven Wright, Demetri Martin, Anthony Jeselnik, and Conan O’Brien.
